02/20/03 Great Sports

(Yes, Candy Becker has started working on the golf outing in Fld.. for 2004 or 2005. More to come when I get back from Dallas. Terry )

Ron Pruitt from the class of 1968
Former jock at FCHS, Michigan State and a Pro-Baseball player has a great web page to check out:
www.ronpruittbaseball.com
He is owner of Ron Pruitt Baseball Center in Medina, Ohio near Cleveland, Ohio. You might have kids (if you started a family late - like Jeff Bradish) or grandkids that you might want to send to his Baseball Center for that extra edge.

Great Quote
I know these words were used in a song, as soon as I find out the name of the song and the singer I'll pass it on to you. I also have them on a daily calendar which I got from my son for Christmas. They give credit for this quote to Satchel Page, one of the greatest baseball pitures of all time. I find it hard to beleive he came up with this and then it was put to song. But think about it and live your life by it:

Work like you don't need the money.
Love like you've never been hurt.
Dance like nobody's watching.

Top Hits of 1965-1967
Does this ever bring back memories. Where were you and who were you with when these songs were hits.
1965
1. (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction I think everyone from the class of 67 can still sing the words to this song. - The Rolling Stones

2. Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch I Can't Help Myself Singing along in what was considered study-hall  in the cafeteria at FCHS. - Four Tops

3. Wolly Bully. What the hell is a Wolly Bully, but we sang along anyway. - Sam The Sham & The Pharoahs

4. You Were on My Mind You still are on my mind, and you know who you still are. I bet you didn't get the the name of this group right. - We Five

5. You've Lost that Lovin' Feelin Slow dancing at the teen club dances. Everyone tried to sing this "Righteous" and still try at the Kareokee Bar. - The Righteous Brothers

6. Downtown Come on admit it, even the guys sang this one in the shower. - Petula Clark

7. Help The British invasion and the U.S. guys started growing their hair long (it actually touched our
ears). - The Beatles

8. Can't You Hear My Heart beat Lost for words on this one, can't think of anything to say (do you believe that). Pretty catchy though "Baby, Baby, Can't you hear my heart beat. - Herman's Hermits

9. Turn, Turn, Turn Maybe I'm getting old but this one escapes me. Were there more then the chorus words
Turn - Turn -Turn? - The Byrds

AND THE # 10 BUT SHOULD HAVE BEEN # 1 SONG AND EVERYONE CAN SING ALONG

10. MY GIRL Does this ever bring back memories! - The Temptations

Check the next posting in about 6 weeks for the hits of 1966 and 1967

Why you should keep in touch with old friends and classmates
Give this some thought!
Charles Schultz Philosophy

You don't actually have to take the quiz. Just read the items straight through, and you'll get the point (an awesome one) that it is trying to make!

The Quiz
1. Name trhe five wealthiest people in the world.
2. Name the last five Heisman trophy winners.
3. Nmae the last five winners of the Miss America contest.
4. Name ten people who have won the Nobel or Pulitzer prize.
5. Name the last half dozen Acadenmy Award winners for the best actor and actress.
6. Name the last decade's worth of Wolrd Series winners.

How did you do?

The point is, none of us remember the headliners of yesterday. These are no second-rate achievers. They are the best in their fields. But the applause dies. Awards tarnish. Achievements are forgetten. Accolades and certificatres are buried with owners.

Here's another quiz. Seee how you do on this one:

1. List a few teachers who aided your journey through school.
2. Name three friends who have helped you through a difficult time.
3. Name five people who have taught you something worthwhile.
4. Think of a few people who have made you feel appreciated and special.
5. Think of five people you enjoy spending time with.
6. Name half a dozen heroes whose stories have inspired you.

Easier?

The lesson:

the people who make a difference in your life are not the ones with the most credentials, the most money, or the most awards. They are the ones that care.

And Remember - "Don't worry about the world coming to and end today. It's already tomorros in Australia."
- Charles Schultz

12/13/02 Things To Think About After the Reunion:

Teachers at the Reunion
1. I still think Robert Shaw still had the biggest biceps of any teacher at FCHS.
2. We still refer to Mr. Bo as coach (pretty cool).
3. Mrs. Bo was the best dancer at the reunion and got every one up dancing (she still has it).

Classmates:
1. Jeff bradish has a child under 1 year old, so we can expect his son to just getting out of the diapers about the time Jefff gets into diapers (it depends on how you look at it0.
2. Still haven't heard from Jim Rosebush and his quest to meat up with TC Hauser.
3. Special thanks to the following classmates who paid for the reunion and didn't show, it puts a down payment on the 40 year class reunion. Thanks goes out to Randy Coley, Dennis Putman, Sue Ray, Jimmie Bar, Linda Butler, Therese Hauser.
4. Don't forget to keep Jim VanCampen's Web Page and Csaba K's mailing address updated if you move or change your e-mail.
5. If you die let us know so we can remove you from the mailing list and not loose money and time in mailing you updates that you probabley will not read anyway.

11/12/02 Post reunion web posting

NATIONAL NEWS:
Robert Hurand is the Prosecuting Attorney in the Sniper trial - Coincidence
or could it be our Robbie Hurand, the FCHS alumni?

Golf Outing Set for 2003-2004:
The FCHS Florida Connection will plan a golf outing for Flintoids sometime
in and around November in either 2003 or 2004 in Florida. Contact Candy
Becker, Jeff Brenner, Denny Barrett, or Chucky for additional information.
They don't know it yet but I just gave them the assignment to make this
happen (and we all know how will Chucky is at motivating people). Ferial
Yager is a non-golfer but has already agreed to be the "Beer Babe" - or as
us guys call it something like Babe.

TC where are you?:
Jim Rosebush has agreed to meat with TC Hauser in DC and give us an update.
He will send pictures to prove that it did happen.

Pictures:
Some of you are not sharing your reunion pictures with the web page (like
Liz Tate). Either scan pictures and send them to Jim VanCampen's Web Page
or mail him the pictures and he will return them to you.
(Just got a batch from Bobby Peek: http://www.jvancampen.com/flint/miscphotos.htm - JVC)
I'm wondering if Liz's daughter really had film in the camera - I've been there done that.

Flint NEWS:
John Sperla from Flint St. Matthews class of 1968 will be inducted into the
"Flint Sports Hall Of Fame" on December 7. For ticket information check out
The Flint Journal Web Page or send me a "I want to be there" note " and
I'll get you the information.

Lunch with Richard:
I had lunch with Richard Gordon (I refer to him as the kid I grew up with,
kid were 53 years old). He said what a great time he had at the reunion and
was sorry he didn't get to spend more time with old friends like Mark
Mitschun. He also stated it was a great to see people like Barb Barhan and
what a sweet heart she is - I have to agree, I put her at the top also.

Deaths:
Let us know if you die so we can place your name on the deceased list.

Coming In The Weeks Ahead;
Why you should keep in touch with old friends.

Make a Comment:
You too can make statements on this web page, so start writing. If you have
something to say about anything I bring up go ahead. If it's negative - so
what, I'll either delete it or just not read or share it with anyone -
that's the "Power of the Pen" and the "Delete Button."

Your Friend and Classmate,
Terry L. Farrer

10/29/02 Post-reunion # 2

A Special Thanks!

Please note the following people who helped make this reunion a success:
(In Order of their contribution)

Chucky - It was his dream, he planted the seed and sat back and watched as everyone else did the work. It all starts with a dream, thanks Chucky it just that some people follow their dreams and "Just Do It." But you may just be the smartest one who helped with the reunion.

Delores Sternal - Followed Chucky's dream and "Did the Work" without her it wouldn't have been done.

Marsha Andrews, Jim Rosebush, and Barbara Barham - Coast to Coast almost and in-between. They got my interest going, if they wanted something started and were willing to pitch in and they don't even live in Michigan.

Denny Barrett - He was TITS all the way (totally inconsiderate to the System). He had no intention of coming but kept teasing us with the e-mails like he would make a surprise visit.

Jim VanCampen - Enough cannot be said, just look at his Web Page and the interest it has generated. Also it got him and myself back in touch with each other and an old friendship has been renewed.

The Mens Club - Monthly weekly meetings at Appleebees to get this reunion going.
Tom Pardee and Robbie Hurand - Paid for the drinks and paid for the stamps, who could ask for more then that. They also did a great job on skip tracing
Doug Dillon - The MC who can get the party going, he has a permeant job.
Jeff Bradish - There every week and early to the reunion to help, and made phone calls to locate classmates.
Danny Helmer - Might be one of the best skip tracers we had and didn't do a bad job at his new career as a Minister either.
Danny Walker - He wa able sneak out of the house to make it to one Mens Club Meeting, but helped a lot with the golf outing and at the start of the reunion.
Bobby Peek - Did more than a lot of people realize with coordinating the hall, decorations and the golf outing. I hope he is there to help on the next one.
Csaba Knizner - Did all of the e-mails and snail mails. He told my wife his tongue will never be the same after licking so many stamps and envelopes. (I've used that line on my wife before also.)
Al Prosser - Duffy's bar and a lot of free drinks. He lost Big money on us the night before.
And the last three to pay for the reunion
Feriel, Sue Beckwith, and Debbie Gage - They took your money at the door and signed you in and believe me we appreciated that.
And Last but not the least
Me - What can I say about myself - What a guy, I love myself! Sometimes I crack myself up and even catch
myself LOL at myself. I'm OK, you should be me for a day, what a rush!

LOL
Your Friend and Classmate,
Terry L. Farrer

PS - If I forgot someone I'm sorry. All you have to do is let me know and I'm sure I'll have something to say about you in some future Post Reunion Statements. It only took Becky Roat saying she wanted her name mentioned in bold letters. As you can see she made the wall - "For a good time call."

10/29/02 Post-reunion #1

Item # 1

Beauty Queen Leaves Early and lost the use of a free car for 1 year

There were 5 ladies in the running for the 2002- 1967 FCHS Beauty Queen of the year Award at the Flint
Central 35 year class reunion. One was disqualified because she was the wife of Terry Farrer and did not
attend FCHS. So we were down to four in the running for the free leased car for one year. The original winner
was Jane Shaw but she gave up the honor of being the Queen and the car when she left the party early (You had to be there to win). So the free leased car went to the 1st runner up - Becky Roat, but Becky didn't think it was right taking the car away from her best friend so she declined the honor. So the 3 contest left still have a week to claim the car - You know who you are. All you have to do is write me and tell me why you think you should win the car and the Beauty Queen Award.
(This is negotiable, I'm not proud I can be bought)

ITEM # 2
Send your pictures to Jim VanCampen's Web page so everyone can share them and laugh. Either scan them or send them to him and he will mail them back.
